About our Team

The Technical Operations UNIX Team is responsible for supporting the servers that run Linux, AIX and Solaris Operating systems, along with supporting the Storage and Backup Infrastructure. We work closely with all Application Teams and other Infrastructure Teams in planning, implementing, and supporting the hardware that uses the UNIX operating system at Whole Foods Market.

Job Summary:
The Technical Operations UNIX Team has an opening for an experience System Administrator. The candidate will work to support the various operating systems, hardware platforms, support tools and will participate in small to medium projects in a variety of capacities. The primary focus of this position will be supporting the Linux Infrastructure.

Primary skills:
Minimum of 2 years of experience administrating a Linux environment with more than 100 servers. Preferable a Red Hat Linux environment.

Knowledge of hardware server components and functions.

Demonstrated excellent customer support capabilities.

Experience with scripting using ksh and Perl.

Understanding of SAN technologies.

Experience supporting end users and troubleshooting problems in a production environment.

Some experience or knowledge working with Storage and a Backup application.

Experience with basic monitoring tools and performance tuning.

Experience with imaging, patching and typical system administration support tools.

General knowledge of networking protocols.

Implementing and maintaining our compliance support tools and software.

Managing systems including responding to system generated logged events and security threats.

Experience supporting and working with an IBM AIX or a Solaris environment a plus.

Additional skills needed:
Ability to work alone or with a team in a fast paced changing environment.

A highly motivated individual who can identify issues, investigate and recommend a course of action.

Ability to interact and help non-technical people.

Remote support and troubleshooting skills.

The ability to perform on-call rotation.

The ability to learn quickly
