California State University Dominguez Hills was established in 1960 and is one of the 23 campuses that comprise The California State University System. CSU Dominguez Hills is an urban, comprehensive public university that serves a culturally rich, diverse student body of approximately 14,000 students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Located on a 346-acre site in the South Bay portion of the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area, CSU Dominguez Hills has a highly pluralistic student body, which includes a significant number of non-traditional, working adult students as well as approximately 2,000 students enrolled in distance learning programs statewide. This is a full-time permanent (probationary) position.
Department: Division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs
The Division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs supports the University's education mission through the proactive recruitment and retention of students through the development and implementation of enrollment-centric recruitment marketing plans for short and long-term goals, along with the development of a comprehensive retention program that engages the campus community. The Division provides services and programs in support of the educational development of students. This is achieved by a student-centered philosophy, student life activities, and an array of support and developmental services. Student Information Services supports and promotes the strategic use of information and technology resources to further the work of the division and the mission of the University.
Major Job Duties:
Under the general supervision of the Registrar, this person ensures that all of the undergraduate majors, general education and degree requirements are accurate in order to assist students to graduation. This includes the research for placement of courses from transfer institutions and the rules in DPR. Communicates with advisors, department chairs and associate deans regarding University degree requirements. The incumbent participates in interpreting University catalog academic program and general education requirements in order to build academic program specific (i.e., majors, minors, etc.) templates that enable automated analysis and evaluation of student progress to degree. Works closely with Graduation Evaluators and Admission Evaluators to promote and support operational practices of and policies governing transfer and graduation requirements in regards to PeopleSoft coding, the incumbent will convert transfer courses and test credit equivalencies into the degree audit application. If proposed changes cannot be translated into PeopleSoft, incumbent will collaborate with Academic Department faculty and/or staff suggesting changes that can be made. Participates in the review and definition of programming problems; recommending Student Information Systems solutions; development of various computer system projects; developing new technology; testing and modifying systems; providing documentation of business procedures; preparing report development for advising data; preparing ad hoc reports and training documents; and assisting with maintaining data integrity.

Data administration principles and data modeling concepts
Family Education Rights and Privacy Act and the ability to apply appropriately in a variety of contests
Knowledge of Title V, system-wide and university academic policies relating to student systems.
PeopleSoft and Hershey
Use systems work flow and logic flowchart techniques
Apply and use operations analysis and structured design analysis techniques
Identify hardware/software interface problems
Communicate effectively with a variety of people (students, faculty, and staff) through both written and oral methods
Apply consultative skills to assess user needs and communicate technology systems and solutions
Establish and maintain effective working relationships; in some instances lead and motivate others
Perform systems and applications need analysis
Research and evaluate the functionality of vendor software to meet user needs
Perform database maintenance tasks
Establish and execute data security standards and procedures
Specialized skills in new systems and programming technologies
Excellent Written and oral communication
PeopleSoft and PeopleSoft Query,
Working with automated student information systems
Additional Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience with PeopleSoft, Degree Audit systems
Experience and Education:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Business or Public Administration.
Equivalent related work experience performing analytical studies of data flow and processing procedures.
Two (2) years university experience preferred.
The salary range for this classification is: $4,314 - $8,831 per month.
The maximum salary budgeted for this position by the department is $4,314 per month.
