The Colorado Springs Airport handles approximately 90 arrivals and departures daily and is served by five airlines with non-stop service to 13 U.S. cities, as well as connecting flights. Communications Center Dispatchers (dispatchers) contribute to the user-friendly reputation of the airport by providing excellent customer service to the public, airport/airline staff, and the TSA (Transportation Security Administration).

Dispatchers perform the following duties:
Operate a centralized telephone, paging, intercom, and two-way radio communications console
Answer and determine the proper routing of incoming calls
Respond to inquiries from airport tenants and the public regarding services, capabilities, responsibilities, and general information
Monitor CCTV (closed circuit television), security, fire alarms, and other related building operating systems
Determine the proper routing of emergency and non-emergency notifications
Develop and maintain communication logs and reports, which include information from callers, dispatch records, status of field units, and radio communications
Operate computer terminals; perform data entry
Retrieve information from computerized databases
Develop and maintain information references, maps, directories, reports, etc. in manual and computerized form to include spreadsheets and databases
Perform various inspections throughout the facility to ensure compliance with federal, state, and airport rules and regulations Dispatchers must be able to communicate clearly and concisely using the telephone, public address systems, and radios; work independently; effectively multi-task; and possess computer proficiency skills to include the ability to develop and maintain spreadsheets.

This position is 24/7 shift work (includes weekends and holiday) and requires being available for emergency callout. Applicants must undergo and pass a fingerprint-based criminal history records check as mandated by the TSA.

Minimum Qualifications:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED).

One year of full-time customer service experience.

Must possess, or obtain upon hire, a valid Colorado driver's license.

Desirable Qualifications:
Experience which demonstrates proficiency with using a two-way radio, a variety of aviation and security software programs, and Microsoft Office Suite.
