Respiratory Therapists in a Longtemr Care setting to deliver respiratory care and therapeutic treatments to patients who have breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders. Responsible for evaluating their patients to determine what can be provided in a Longterm Care setting. |
Evaluate patients by performing limited physical examinations and conducting diagnostic tests including those that measure lung capacity tests and acidity and alkalinity of the blood;
treat patients by using oxygen or oxygen mixtures, chest physiotherapy, and aerosol medications;
connect patients who cannot breathe on their own to ventilators that deliver pressurized oxygen into the lungs;
perform regular checks on patients and equipment.
Candidate must have at least, an associate degree or BA from approved college. Must provide proof of Completion of the Certified Respiratory Therapist Exam (CRT) which is administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
