Communication Position: the Department of Communication and Performance Studies of East Central University seeks applicants for a full-time position in Communication Studies at the Instructor (non-tenure track) or Assistant Professor (tenure track) level. Starting date will be August 2013 at the latest.

East Central University (ECU) is a student-centered regional state university located in Ada, Oklahoma. ECU offers thirty-three undergraduate baccalaureate degree programs in arts and letters, business, education, mathematics and sciences, nursing, and the social sciences. Nine master's degrees are offered in education, human resources, psychology, and accounting. ECU's 4,800 students come from 40 countries and 35 different states. About 65% of the 172 faculty members hold doctorates.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will: 1) be responsible for delivering quality instruction in undergraduate courses in the following areas: Fundamentals of Human Communication, Communication in the Workplace, Forensics, Persuasion, and Presentational Communication; 2) sponsor the Intercollegiate Forensic Team; 3) assist with speech teacher education oversight; 4) advise students; 5) recruit qualified communication majors; 6) hold active membership in relevant professional associations/organizations; and, 7) serve on committees and participate in official activities at the department, college, and university levels. Position may include other responsibilities commensurate with applicants experience or qualifications.

Qualifications include: A doctorate in Communication or Speech is preferred; ABD will be considered. A master’s degree in Communication or Speech with appropriate experience would be considered. The ideal candidate will possess a background in Communication, as well as Forensics and possibly Debate. Additionally a history of public school teaching and/or professional experience is also beneficial.
