Rigaku is currently seeking an Opto-Mechanical Engineer with optics, physics, and/or coating background that enjoys collaboration and embodies the scientific process.

DUTIES

The major responsibilities of the Opto-Mechanical Engineer include:

  • Working with R&D personnel to convert a scientific/technical concept to an engineering concept.
  • Providing conceptual design/engineering solutions to specified mechanical problems based on known solutions, developing innovative solutions, assessing the performances of the proposed solutions, and finalizing the concept for engineering design and prototyping.
  • Working with RIT's engineering department to transform the developed engineering concept and solutions into product design, including design review, prototyping, and finalization.
  • Testing and evaluating the designed system against the performance specification, and further improving the design with RIT's engineering department until it meets specifications and is finalized.
  • Lending support to develop manufacturing processes and procedures for production.
QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must have a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Optical Engineering. Candidate should also have:

  • Two years of experience in opto-mechanical system related design and analysis.
  • Understanding of opto-mechanical design principles and solid background in opto-mechanical systems.
  • Competency in quantitative analysis of mechanical systems using software tools (such as FEA) and the ability to analyze performance impacts from material characteristics such as stress and thermal deformation, and from environmental elements such as temperature, gravity, and vibration.
  • Ability to use CAD software to create 3D models during conceptualization.
  • Demonstrated history of leading innovative projects and collaboration.
  • Ability to thrive in a global, multi-cultural environment.
