HHP Computational Thermal and Fluid Engineering Leads
positions located in Columbus, IN.
Organize and drive HHP Computational Thermal and Fluid Engineering (CTFE) efforts to identify analysis technology development projects and assign the appropriate analyst to the project, based on resource availability, location, urgency and team capability. Work with team members to model and analyze the fluid mechanics and dynamics in complex systems during the development process.
Perform analysis of incompressible and compressible diesel and natural gas engine related systems (700 HP and above) utilizing FlowMaster.
Perform system level analysis on fuel, lubrication, and cooling system utilizing FlowMaster software. Provide analysis support to ensure existing and future products function at high level and are robust and reliable.
Determine flow distribution change to all the components during switch between diesel and natural gas engines and ensure flow distribution meets engine performance needs. Create CFD models to understand expected performance of new designs to assist design engineers.
Work with design and mechanical development engineers to define the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Flowmaster analysis approaches for diesel and natural gas engine subsystems or components.
Perform CFD analysis of incompressible and compressible diesel and natural gas engine related systems.
Perform Conjugate Analysis of Diesel/Natural Gas Large Engine’s Cylinder heads including the structure and the fluid/gas in the same model.
Simulate incompressible and compressible systems with heat transfer analysis by modeling the fluid mechanics within an engine related system with a versatile steady state and transient solver.
Formulate analysis models utilizing experience with Internal Combustion Engines.
Utilize Flowmaster to determine appropriate pump to deliver the fluid to all the components.
Utilize CFD Analysis component/part level analysis to identify vortex and cavitation in the component, if any.
Review models and interpret the results in ANSYS Fluent Software to provide recommendations for the project owners.
Support global Analysis and Design Teams and ensure analysis work is documented in a formal technical report format.
Train analysts to create/manipulate geometry using ICEM CFD Hexa and Tetra meshing software.
Experience and Education:
Ph.D in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) or Mechanical Engineering and 2 years of experience as a Senior Engineer, CFD Analyst, or related position.
Experience to include: ANSYS Fluent Software; Internal Combustion Engines; Performing CFD analysis of incompressible and compressible diesel and natural gas engine related systems; FlowMaster analysis; ICEM CFD Hexa and Tetra meshing; Performing Conjugate Analysis of Diesel/Natural Gas Large Engine’s Cylinder heads including the structure and the fluid/gas in the same model.
