Microsemi PPG has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Technician. This position will be responsible for a variety of routine technical tasks to assist engineers with electrical testing, device characterization and failure analysis. May assist engineers with building test fixtures from schematics, rough sketches, and verbal instructions. May perform calibration checks on electronic instruments and troubleshoot an electronics system. May perform physical de-processing related to electrical fails or anomolies. May design/build specialized test equipment and work with outside suppliers. Will conduct routine engineering tests and detailed experimental testing, solving mechanical or electronic problems involved in the operation of the product. Position involves complex testing, troubleshooting and protoype duties. Duties to include reviewing project instructions and documentation to ascertain test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problems and possible solutions such as part redesign, substitution of material or parts, or rearrangement of parts or subassemblies. Needs to understand and protoype circuit designs for power semiconductor evaluation and will run testing and benchmarking on power semiconductors.

Requires an Associate's Degree (AA) or equivalent from two year college or technical school; and five to eight years related experience and/or traiing; or equivalent combination of education and experience. This includes high voltage/power testing; basics in power electronics and semiconductor theory including applications; work experience with printed circuits; proficiency in using instruments like multimeters and oscilloscopes. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Lab View experience desired.
