Assumes the responsibility for the day to day management of department. Under general direction,
provides clinical and technical support to assigned staff. Coordinates work flow, staffing patterns,
program development, inventory control and distribution in their assigned areas. Responsible for
monitoring and reporting of statistical guidelines and metrics as established by credentialing bodies,
payer sources, and leadership. Plans, organizes, and conducts physical therapy treatment programs
based upon evaluation and assessment and medical referral. Maintains patient care records, evaluates
the patient's response to treatment and recommends treatment plan changes. Participates in in-service
and continuing education programs, as well as special departmental programs, clinical education,
research, and writing of professional papers.
Demonstrates actions consistent with Ochsner's "Expectations" as duties are performed on a daily basis.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A. Education, Experience $ Training:
Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited university and CPR certification are required.
Minimum three to five years experience as a staff therapist required. Demonstrates good clinical
experience in specialty area as well as exemplary leadership skills.
B. Other Qualifications:
Current Louisiana Physical Therapy license or eligibility for licensure by examination or reciprocity from another
C. Physical Demands:
Ability to move about freely and transfer patients weighing 50-350 Ibs. to and from wheelchairs and
stretchers is required for up to 80 % of the work time. Ability to squat, stoop, bend, and crawl is required in
order to exercise patients in every conceivable position. Occasional travel to off-site locations is required
IV. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
1. Serves as a preceptor or mentor for new staff validating skills required for proper job performance as
outlined in the orientation, assessment, and evaluation process.
2. Assumes the responsibility for the day-to-day management of department which may include the following
duties and others as delegated.
3. Maintains personal productivity.
4. Performs age and diagnosis appropriate evaluations and treatment.
5. Maintains patient records according to documentation standards, policies and procedures.
6. Takes responsibility for professional development, required training and credentialing.
