Communications/Navigation Engineering Support, Senior, ISR SOF & PR
Provide Comm/Nav Engineering Support for US Air Force Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance and Special Operations Forces (ISR/SOF) Directorate, Special Operations Forces / Personnel Recovery (SOF/PR), Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. Position in support of Fixed Wing.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide advice, assistance, and draft documentation support to assist in the integration of approved conventional and specialized communication / navigation and identification systems.
Review the current radio interference and provide recommended resolutions.
Provide advisory assistance and draft documentation support to establish integration plans to fulfill system requirements in the areas of Comm/Nav and identification systems development engineering.
Assist in Link-16 and Integrated Broadcast Service implementation.
Support users in developing a roadmap for implementing their communication needs.
Provide advisory assistance with Comm/Nav test activities.
Provide support in the review of technical literature and coordination, keeping abreast of applied research and ensuring a smooth transition from applied research to development for systems engineering needs.
Assist in developing system concepts, and in performing technological / trade-off study assessments.
Support and evaluate the IMP, IMS, and Systems Engineering Detail Schedule engineering cost estimates.
Support design, develop, manufacture, integration, test, and deployment of electronic sensors, aircraft signature reduction technology, and defensive avionics for airborne weapon systems to ensure total weapon system compatibility with the electromagnetic environment and to ensure aircraft survivability.
Provide guidance, advice and draft documentation on the technical direction and policy for development and integration of propulsion systems: performance & operability, structures and subsystems and controls.
Translate and perform technical / mission analyses of operational requirements; review system design baseline; review and analyze technical proposals and specifications; conduct systems analyses.
Evaluate program technical risk, operational safety, suitability, and effectiveness and by establishing risk mitigation plans, and overseeing program technical risk reduction efforts.
Support and participate in TIMs, design reviews, configuration review boards, computer resources working groups, interoperability working groups, interface control working groups and program reviews; support the preparation of briefings; support in Source Selections; and develop recommended engineering input for PWSs, RFPs and CDRLs for assigned programs
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Bachelor Degree (preferred to be a professional engineering degree (from an American Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)-accredited educational program big plus).
Ten (10) years of experience in Comm/Nav Engineering discipline.
Comm/Nav engineering expertise / experience, test execution and analysis knowledge, systems development expertise, software development and test experience, air vehicle safety expertise.
Cooperative and communication (verbal and written) skills to interface with technical and non-technical personnel in the performance of this position.
Secret clearance is required.
Ability to travel.
