The Technical Operations Team at Pearl.com is looking for a Senior DBA who wants to build highly scalable and fault-tolerant distributed database systems. Our team values creativity, innovation, hard work, open communication and rapid iteration and learning.

As a Senior Database Administrator you will take an active role in determining what architectures and technologies perform, scale and deliver stability. You and the Operations team will transform logical database models into physical database designs scaling across multiple data centers. You will collaborate with business and engineering teams to design and implement enhancements.

Duties:
Responsible for performance and up-time of our production cluster platform in a SQL Server 2008 / Windows Server 2008 environment

Implement and operate data warehouse solutions using SQL server or other applications

Responsible for performance and up-time of our production MySQL cluster / Red Hat Linux Server environment

Monitor and optimize physical storage for database systems

Work with our production team on PCI (payment card industry) compliance

Optimize indexes for performance

Provide day-to-day monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning of all databases

Ensure that data is up to date and accurate

Develop and evolve the physical equipment layout of our application

Monitor, maintain and modify replication as needed

Identify and resolve locking, blocking, I/O and CPU-intensive operations and other resource contention

Design and capture performance benchmarks

Help chart future directions for other database systems

Requirements:
BSEE or BSCS or equivalent years of work experience

7+ years of database administration with a primary focus on SQL Server and large database deployments

Experience setting up lightweight profiles and traces

Extensive hands-on experience in tuning hardware for performance

Strong understanding of SQL server internals and issue resolution

Develop scaling strategies including data partitioning, sharding, replication, and recovery

Experience designing and deploying large scale databases with multiple locations

Experience with consumer facing 24x7 high traffic websites

Production MySQL experience

Experience with MySQL partitioning, MySQL Events and advanced configurations

Understand how to use cron, compression, copying, and basic scripting in Linux

Desired Skills:
Experience with NOSQL, Redis, MongoDB

Experience with Data Warehousing concepts and technologies

Experience with EMC SAN hardware

Interest in Hadoop
