This position reports to the Boeing Research and Technology Charleston Support Manager for Final Assembly and Delivery and works directly with engineering and other organizations to implement test plans, processes, procedures and test equipment/software to insure company products and services comply with customer, regulatory, and company requirements. Defines complex requirements for materials, parts and processes used in the manufacture of products. Establishes standards for specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of materials, parts and processes. Maintains compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations. Promotes standardization across the Company. Leads evaluation of emerging technologies for potential application to business needs. Leads development and qualification of new materials, automated equipment, parts and processes to meet requirements and improve production processes for cost and rate. Integrates new technologies as appropriate. Leads integration of new technologies. Reviews and approves test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements. Conducts and coordinates complex analysis and conduct root cause investigations of materials, parts or processes. Implements and coordinates broadly based corrective and preventive actions.
Leads design, development and qualification of sophisticated automated manufacturing systems to satisfy user requirements. Works under minimal supervision and consultative direction. Provides technical leadership to other team members with less experience.
Candidates will be expected to perform within a 'flexible' environment, responding to developing / changing requirements and schedules. Candidates should have proven shop floor and production support experience. A strong background in developing and implementing assembly process improvements to reduce cost/increase rate is preferred. The candidate must be a self-starter, capable of working with minimum level of supervision and should be capable of working as a member of a dynamic, motivated team.

Level 4 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
