Role Definition Provides technical expertise and team leadership to CORE SA team in the area of Solaris/Linux OS infrastructure. This role will serve as a strong technical SME along with day today staff management responsibilities Responsibilities Work as a SME for the Core Infrastructure system admin team for Solaris and Linux OS’s Organize/plans work assignments for the team staff and CWs Delegates work and manages day-to-day operations of the team (incident/change management, service request management) Create/Maintain the 24x7 support schedule for Core SA team Work as a mentor with junior/mid-level team members Create and maintain standards, policies and procedures for various system administration activities Drives issue resolution and communication, either themselves or directs team members Manage work scheduling and PTO/holiday coverage Perform relative team administrative tasks Is point of escalation for team members and business customers Represents Solaris/Linux core infrastructure team and technology platform in technical discussions with other technical teams that drive strategy
        Technical Knowledge/Experience (Required)
        • 7+ years of hands on experience managing/supporting large scale Solaris/Linux enterprise infrastructure (Solaris 9, 10 and RHEL 5.x, 6.x
        • 5+ years of experience supporting Production environment
        • 3+ years of Technical team lead role managing a team of senior and mid-level system administrators
        • Must be an expert in following areas within Solaris/Linux system administration
          • Server built process (kickstart, jumpstart etc…)
          • OS patching (Live upgrade, manual patching, YUM, Satellite server)
          • OS troubleshooting, Performance monitoring,
          • Volume management (SVM, Veritas, LVM)
          • High availability, clustering using VCS
          • Automation/scripting (ksh, Perl, python)
          • LDOMS, Containers, Zones
          • SAN/NAS management from OS sides (LUNS allocation, SAN migration etc…)
        • Good knowledge of managing Linux VMs in Virtualization environment (VMWare – VSphere)
        • Excellent knowledge of Unix security, audit, compliance
        • Goof knowledge of monitoring Tools (Tivoli, Netcool)
        • Backup/Restore (TSM)
        • Excellent knowledge of Databases (Oracle, Oracle-RAC), Middleware (Websphere Application server, Weblogic, MQ series) technologies
        • Well versed with various DR scenarios and strategies

        General Skills (Preferred)
        • Well versed with ITIL methodologies and framework especially surrounding Incident and change management and metrics based performance reporting
        • Strong knowledge of distributed computing environment, Operating systems, hardware platforms, networking and SAN/NAS technologies
        • Team player and individual contributor
        • Manage issues escalations
        • Process driven. Ability to review current work flow and create standards, processes and procedures
        • Ability to create measurable goals for the team (Metrics based reporting)
        • Effectively manage small group system administrators who supports 24x7 production environment
