Perform additions and changes to network hardware and operating systems, and attached devices; include investigation, analysis, recommendation, configuration, installation, and testing of new network hardware and software. Provide direct support in the day-to-day operations on network hardware and operating systems,
including the evaluation of system utilization, monitoring response time and primary support for detection and correction of operational problems using knowledge of hardware and software installation and maintenance in a PC/LAN_WAN environment. Maintain network infrastructure standards including network communication protocols such as TCP Transport Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Designs, deploys and troubleshoots software on Linux, Unix, and
Windows workstations; tape libraries; backup platforms; Sun Solaris, Linux Red Hat, and Mac OS software platforms; HP, Unix
and Windows virtualized servers.
Performs workstation and server administration; patch management; maintenance, upgrades, installations, troubleshooting, and decommissioning.
Develops software and maintains process to restore user workstation files;
Develops, packages and deploys software for Installation and upgrade of workstations; and
Performs execution of security patches and Operating System upgrades.
Implements process to register domain names, database entries and modifications for IP addresses;
Develops software and process for classified and unclassified tape back-ups;
Performs preventive maintenance;
Implements software to monitor server uptime and downtime;
Maintains the servers;
Attends scheduled meetings and training related to facility operations, equipment, and software;
Monitors the ticket system for work to be performed;
Performs execution of security patches and Operating System upgrades;
Develops backup and recovery optimization solutions; and
Performs Lifecycle management.
Maintains database containing IP address records.
Develops and maintains classified disaster recovery backup site.
Must be flexible to work odd hours to accommodate after hours
support (when required) and maintenance windows.
At a minimum, a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school; Accredited schools are those reported to the US Department of Education and maintained within the Secretary of Education’s database.
A minimum of three (3) years experience with workstation administration and Windows, UNIX, Linux, or HP server administration.
Familiarity with ITIL v3.
Must be a US citizen.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. Active Secret clearance highly desired.
