Must be available Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm.
Must work from one of Central Mortgage Company's two locations; employees choice of either Jefferson City or St. Louis.

Direct Endorsement Certification required.
A minimum of five years recent FHA underwriting experience and seven years conventional underwriting experience.
Graduate of a four year college or university is preferred.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Thorough working knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the underwriting field specific to FHA and VA.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Computer skills: intermediate MS Word, intermediate MC Excel, intermediate MS Outlook.
Ability to work under pressure of multiple projects and deadlines; ability to effectively prioritize workload and manage changes in direction.
Ability to interpret and apply required policies and procedures with minimal supervision.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to establish and maintain effective and comfortable relationships with employees, supervisors, and senior management.
Well organized, detail oriented, efficient, self-starter who can complete assignments with minimal supervision.

Job Description:
This full-time position is located in the Origination Support Department for Central Mortgage Company (CMC).

Serve as the primary mortgage underwriting officer for CMC. The incumbent will interact with our investors, the agencies, regulators, and internal management contacts as the “voice” of CMC’s mortgage underwriting function.
Train underwriters on Central Mortgage Company’s policies/procedures and investor and portfolio guidelines.
Monitor underwriting results and updates from our investors and communicating and training the staff as necessary to ensure that Central Mortgage Company generates high quality loans.
Evaluate procedures, recommend changes, and implement new procedures when appropriate.
Manage staff underwriters and support personnel and perform related supervisory duties including hiring, performance reviews, corrective action, career development, compensation management, and termination actions when necessary.
Assist CMC’s training staff so as to integrate underwriting guidelines and requirements within our training curriculum.
Assist in structuring rebuttals to repurchase requests.
Underwrite portfolio, conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA residential loans. Perform all duties of a staff underwriter including the evaluation of all qualifying factors, rendering credit decisions, completion of required forms and system input, assisting loan officers in properly structuring transactions, and other related functions.
Maintain current knowledge of underwriting requirements and compliance guidelines.
Ensure targeted timeline and production standards are met.
Perform HMDA disposition of cancelled and declined loans in compliance with Regulation B requirements.
Assist others in the department as needed. May be assigned other duties and responsibilities.
