Job Summary:
The Patient Registration Representative facilitates patient registration and movement into, through and out of the health care experience. Creates positive first impression, obtains accurate/complete information, verifies data collected and forwards to billing in a timely fashion. Collects on patients financial responsibilities. Responds promptly to internal and external requests and notifies management of any unusual circumstance. Explains hospital policies and procedures to patients using outstanding communication skills.
Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent. One year of health care related experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Typing/keyboard skills of 35-40 WPM. Exhibit outstanding interpersonal skills and customer service orientation. Computer skills essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ten key proficiency, completion of medical terminology course, knowledge of insurance/billing requirements. Insurance or bed assignment experience desirable. ICD-9 coding knowledge.
