Librarian (or Associate Librarian) Half-time

Under general supervision, you will perform a variety of technical and professional librarian activities of moderate to complex difficulty including providing information and assistance to customers of all ages; providing information concerning content and location of collection; performing reference and reader advisory services; performing collection management within assigned area; and may plan, schedule and present generalized programs as needed.
You will need a broad and comprehensive knowledge of current library theories and practices to assist customers in person, by telephone, by mail and by fax to locate materials, obtain information and make effective use of library resources and services.
Salary and Hours:
Librarian - $20.47 per hour / Associate Librarian - $18.59 per hour. This is a half-time position working 2 0 hours per week. Primary hours will be Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday 5pm to 9pm, Friday 1pm to 6pm, Saturday 8am to 5pm, & Sunday 1pm to 6pm. Hours are subject to change in accordance with the needs of the library.

Librarian – a Master of Library Science or Master of Library and Information Science (MLS/MLIS) degree from an ALA accredited program is required for all Librarian positions. Six months of experience in public service work, preferably as a public librarian .
Associate Librarian – Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university supplemented preferably by additional professional training through attendance at workshops, seminars, conferences, etc. Six months of experience in public service work, preferably as a public librarian .
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Understands principles, practices, and applications of library science and technology. While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is frequently required to sit or stand for extended periods of time, squat, use hands and arms, speak and hear, and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds .
