The Chair will provide disciplinary oversight of curricular development, contributing to faculty and staff hiring, budget management, grant writing, and facilities planning. Other responsibilities include mentoring junior faculty, publishing in referred journals, participating in professional organizations, advising students, and participating in campus and community service activities. The Chair will report directly to the Associate Dean for Biomedical Affairs.

Candidates for the position of Microbiology Chair must have a Ph.D. and/or other appropriate degree(s) in the applied biomedical science discipline. The successful candidate should have experience teaching in a medical school environment and a commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment. Credentials and accomplishments should indicate evidence of success in research and publication. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills to lead the faculty and staff of the department in a positive and productive manner.
Salary is competitive and based upon experience.
