Job Description: ICF is looking for a Corporate Communications Specialist to join a 40+ person marketing and communications team reporting to a Director, Corporate Communications. ICF uses communication to help foster open dialogue and a sense of community throughout the company. The Corporate Communications team applies a wide variety of communication channels to motivate, inspire, engage, and educate our 4,500 employees worldwide. The position involves taking complex information and translating it into simple messages and stories. The ideal candidate is passionate about sharing information, connecting people, and building community. It’s someone who loves creating stories that educate, illuminate, and inspire. He/she has superior writing and editing skills, and is constantly thinking about new ways to engage our audiences. We seek an experienced and reliable communications professional who can produce high-quality content under deadlines; is collaborative by nature and can facilitate teamwork; and brings a positive, solutions-oriented approach to work. A sense of humor would be nice. This position may be based out of Sacramento, CA, San Francisco, CA, or the Fairfax, VA area. Periodic travel once a quarter is required. Key Responsibilities: Develop and support communication efforts to reinforce corporate culture and build engagement. Be part of the team who runs the ICF daily intranet news tool: Daily Perspectives. Coordinate, write, edit, and proofread written content for executive blogs, intranet, executive emails, and other communications needs. Coordinate monthly open conversations with employees and the CEO and coordinate a strategic approach to in-person CEO town halls. Galvanize communications providers in Corporate Business Service (CBS) groups and various other contributors across the company to support a standardized culture and tone in ICF internal communications. Assist with the development and management of the twice-annual company All Hands meetings held in headquarters office in Fairfax, VA. Develop original and compelling copy in the voice of the company, with the appropriate tone, consistency, and quality, for a variety of corporate communications. Guide corporate service and practice representatives in writing content. Strategize on new initiatives and brainstorm solutions to existing challenges and new and better ways of doing things. Basic : Bachelor’s degree in corporate communications, journalism, or related field. 5 or more years of internal communications experience, including writing, editing, proofreading, interviewing, story research, and concept development skills. Demonstrated ability to craft messages for a range of audiences and to express complex material clearly, concisely, and persuasively. Demonstrated experience delegating and engaging others effectively to develop timely, engaging content, and to be an enthusiastic motivator. Experience with digital (Web-based, multi-media and social media) storytelling. Ability to travel to the Fairfax, VA, headquarters on a quarterly basis. Preferred Skills/Experience: Master’s degree. 2 years of experience in a large organization (1,000+ employees). Demonstrated interest in community building. Experience independently managing projects from inception to completion. Experience successfully developing a network of key influencers and opinion leaders and leverage them on various initiatives. Active member of IABC. Proven track record producing effective communication pieces. Seasoned writer and editor. Professional Skills: Creative strategic thinker willing to take calculated risks. Team player who fosters collaboration; client service skills. Ability to effectively communicate with and inspire action among a broad range of audiences and the highest levels of management. Ability to juggle multiple projects with changing priorities in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment. Ability to counsel and persuade others, including organizational leaders, regarding strategy. Strong organization and time management skills, working to often challenging and changing deadlines. Responds positively to direction, while also takes initiative and is self-motivated. Demonstrated skill and flair in business writing, editing, and proofreading. Superior verbal communication and personal interaction skills.
