Job Description:
Secure Mission Solutions has an immediate need for a
Systems Administrator. The System Administrator will
serve as a key member of The Wireless Emulation Lab

Responsibilities include:
  • Keeping the systems up to date with patches
  • Configuring the WEL resources to accommodate research
  • Interfacing with the Networking Team to maintain our
research network connection
Research is Linux-heavy, requring strong experience with
Linux/Unix systems. Linux clustering and virtualization
are utilized to expand resources and utilize efficiency.

Required Experience:
  • Experience with recent versions of Ubuntu, Red Hat
Enterprise Linux (or Centos/Scientific Linux), and
Fedora. Familiarity with Mac and Windows operating
  • Linux scripting
  • Building Linux HPC clusters using open source tools
(Warewulf, Rocks, xCAT, etc.)
  • Configuring Grid Engine Job Scheduler (or other
similar ones like Maui/Torque, LSF, Condor, etc.)
  • Virtualization using KVM and QEMU or similar
  • Configuring upstart (Ubuntu), init (RHEL), and systemd
  • Booting diskless provisioned nodes using PXE, TFTP,
  • Configuring DNSMASQ for PXE booting. Creating Linux
chroot images for network booting
  • Modifying the Linux kernel and initramfs
  • Configuring bridges, VLANs, and STP on Linux
  • Configuring IPTABLE
  • Configuring Cisco switches for trunking
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
