This position will provide daily leadership to plant operations to drive continuous improvement in the areas of Safety, Quality and Productivity. Reporting to the General Operations Manager, the responsibilities include management of the production operations, analyzing production results (in SAP) and lead the implementation of corrective actions and process changes, managing salary and unionized hourly personnel, communicating quality, safety, productivity and maintenance issues to all levels of the organization. This position will work in close relationship with the Process/Quality Manager and the LSS engineer to drive change and develop projects to improve production processes, costs, margins and quality issues. This position will also develop a close working relationship with other OMNOVA departments and locations, maintaining company confidentiality as it relates to company products, policies, and personnel. This position will also provide support for strategic planning, promote employee involvement, foster a collaborative union/management relationship and be a key leader in upholding the CBA as it relates to Production and Production employees.
Oversees production operations, assuring cost-effective processes that result in products of high-quality and on-time; Analyze, develop and implement process changes, quality controls and corrective actions as needed. Assure accuracy of SAP inputs and standards.
Develops a strong collaborative relationship with key JNT Leadership staff members to drive improvements. Works with scheduler to assure compliance with CBA and cost-effective manufacturing. Maintain accurate training verifications (JOBS packets) and identify training needs where applicable. Responsible for motivating and supervising salaried (directly) and hourly (indirectly) workforce.
Responsible for promoting a workplace that has a strong emphasis on safety, health and environmental compliance; encourages total employee involvement in continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsible for establishing plans and objectives for manufacturing consistent with division goals and strategies. Monitors, reports and implements actions for manufacturing to meet the established goals and objectives.
Responsible for establishing process procedures and assuring that all processes and products are in compliance with internal and external specifications and are operating within Jeannette's QMS system. Implement and enforce JNT plant and OMNOVA policies and procedures.
A key team member in union/management safety and agenda meetings with the local USW. Key participant in grievance resolutions and arbitrations dealing with production.
Monitoring and maintaining optimal inventory of department supplies; developing and maintaining relationships with key vendors.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (no exceptions) - MBA desirable
Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment
Minimum of 3 years in a management role.
Demonstrated effective leadership with a proven track record
Strong history of implementing and driving change throughout production
Effective interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills
Strong environmental, safety and health background with proven improvement results
SixSigma training and/or certified training in continuous improvement with documented success
Strong SAP and Microsoft office applications
