Senior Web Developer / Architect-Java (Java EE) (Job Number: 316619)


JOB DESCRIPTION: The candidate for the Senior Java Web Application Developer / Architect will work as a lead on the design and implementation of a large, cutting edge web application system development and integration effort. The candidate will architect, code and test full-stack Java-based web application software based on an Agile Scrum or Kanban aproach. This involves the use of user stories, acceptance criteria and other system engineering artifacts as part of an Agile team. He/she will use sound software engineering and object oriented principles to ensure that developed code is maintainable, efficient, reliable, understandable, secure and fault tolerant. The candidate will help guide the project and mentor the team on best practices, architectural patterns. The candidate is expected to help design a software architecture for new systems or upgrades to existing systems using best-of-breed web-based technologies. The candidate will be knowledgeable about secure software development principles and techniques and will apply them. He/she will use software tools in cooperation with continuous integration and test automation while supporting software reuse and refactoring. He/she will support the software configuration management process and understand software components and their interface requirements..

The candidate will interface with software engineers, system engineers, information assurance engineers, test engineers, quality assurance, and other project team members using the Agile Scrum methodology. He/she will be responsible for setting the standards and helping the team adopt Test Driven Development (TDD) practices within the SAIC Agile Framework to ensure the proper degree of engineering rigor is applied to all assigned tasks. This position requires someone who is proactive and passionate about ensuring the quality of software deliverables and can communicate with the development teams (including SAIC, subcontractors, and customer representatives) what is required to achieve this effectively on assigned tasks.

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in related technical discipline and 8+years experience. Advanced degree in related technical field desired. Experience in project management typically required.

Knowledge of and experience working with software design patterns

Experience with Java Web Application Development and Web Application Architectures

experience using some of the following Programming Languages and tools such as Java, GWT/ExtGWT, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, scripting with Ruby, Spring Framework, SOAP, REST, MyBatis, or Postgres RDBMS.

experience in software development on agile teams using Agile Developer practices such as Pair Programming, TDD, Refactoring, and ATDD.
