Perform as variety of mental and physical activities related to the receiving, storage, order picking, packaging, shipping and inventory control of materials in a distribution center/ warehouse environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties will vary based upon assigned location. The following duties are not all inclusive but are a representative listing of some of the activities performed within a distribution center/warehouse environment including the mental and physical attributes of standing, lifting up to 50 lbs and the use of mechanical and electronic equipment to complete the assigned tasks.
o Duties may include packing, wrapping, securing, or labeling containers.
o Restocks machine with packaging materials, such as labels, boxes, paper, etc.
o Fills customer or warehouse transfer orders from stored merchandise according to order specifications.
o Packs products for shipment by selecting appropriate type and size boxes when applicable, as well as checking and verifying all parts against written orders.
o Prepares boxes with packaging materials, and arranges products in boxes, packing according to shipping regulations.
o Closes and seals box, and enclose packing lists, shipping labels and other documents as necessary.
o May require packing products according to electro-static discharge (ESD) procedures, using anti-static packing materials.
o Receives incoming materials, unpacks, and checks shipments against bills of lading, packaging tickets and other records.
o Keeps records of quantity and condition of materials received.
o Completes bills-of-lading, express and parcel post bills, and local delivery receipts.
o Notifies truck lines of pickups and routes all shipments.
o Checks orders to verify that contents conform to accompanying paperwork.
o Weighs packages to determine shipping charges.
o Records freight costs and applies appropriate labels to indicate charges.
o Maintains logs of all products shipped.
o Verifies accuracy of all shipping documents, including packing slips, shop tickets, customer orders, part numbers, and bin box labels.
o Notifies supervisor of inconsistencies or problems.
o Places boxes in designated areas of the warehouse for freight carrier pick up.
o Sorts and stocks supplies/parts into proper storage containers and bins maintaining adequate inventory levels and verifying stock prefixes and part numbers.
o Picks, packages, and transfers requested supplies/parts.
o May perform related clerical duties, such as preparation of transfer slips, control of pick cards, and maintaining records.
o May use computer terminal for basic inquiries and updating inventory levels.
o Gathers raw materials and parts from warehouse stock as directed by shop tickets or other documents.
o Determines quantities on hand, and notifies supervisor of shortages or other problems.
o May deliver materials to assembly staging areas for work in process.
o Compiles records from ordering, shipping and receiving materials.
o Updates information on computer to maintain inventory records.
o Assesses stock supply and reorder status.
o Prepares and verifies requisition of additional stock items, using the appropriate forms.
o Inspection: Inspects completed work.
Knowledge and Skill:
Work experience requirements:
- Alpha/numeric filing systems. Reading and understanding written instructions.
- Performing basic mathematical calculations.
- Communicating effectively verbally.
Education & Certification Requirements
- No prior experience is required.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Forklift Certification may be required.
- ESD Certification may be required.
