Position: Linux System Administrator
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Location: Downtown Denver

Our client is seeking a self-motivated, experienced Linux System Administrator to join their small but skilled team in downtown Denver. You will be a key player in a big game, focusing on defining and implementing our infrastructure requirements, including server-sizing, building out dedicated servers and cloud instances, implementing monitoring and capacity planning tools and processes, and driving a culture of automated, cost-efficient, high-availability operations. You'll be working with the most modern technologies, from cloud platforms from multiple vendors to operating modern web application, API infrastructure, and mobile back-end environments.
Ideal candidates should be experienced in professional-grade network operations, security best practices, deployment automation tools, and troubleshooting in a five-nines availability environment. Candidates should be detail-oriented and passionate about high availability, scalability, automation, and collaboration.

Responsibilities include:
Proactively monitoring system health and performance (Nagios, icinga and others)
Automating deployment, monitoring, and alarming infrastructures
Actively participating with Development and QA in defining & building the product, and participating in agile/scrum activities
Maintaining 99.999% uptime of the full application stack
General system administration for Linux OSs (Redhat and Ubuntu)
Developing and maintaining strong OS and network security practices
Managing backups, restores, and DR for servers, applications, and databases
Assisting with MySQL database administration
Developing and maintaining system configurations (scripts, Puppet, others)
Managing environments at dedicated colocation and cloud service providers
Setting up and maintaining environments for dev, test, beta, and production
Participating in a 24x7 on call rotation
Creating and maintaining operations-related documentation
Maintaining corporate network (LAN, firewall, VPN)

Required Skills:
5+ years of experience in Linux administration, preferably in a production web environment
Expert level Linux administration (Ubuntu and Redhat)
Strong Apache skills
AWS experience including VPC, EC2, Route 53, S3, and RDS
Strong scripting skills (BASH, PHP, Python, etc.)
Strong TCP/IP skills
Experience working with and supporting developers
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience in Agile processes

Desired Skills:
Experience architecting cost-efficient "scale-out" architecture a strong plus
Experience with MySQL a strong plus
