This position requires the ability to do manual and advanced clerical work in the processing and storing of goods, supplies and other items.
Typical duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Prepare itemized billing statements for time and materials used for work reimbursable performed by Water crews at the expense of others. Maintain database and other files for new or replaced water service lines using field measurements provided by field crews that tap the water main. Keep database of materials used by maintenance crews so that materials can be reconciled with warehouse inventory. Research information as requested by Engineers, General Foreman, and other staff. Retrieve and dispatch emergency Gopher State One Call locates to field crews. Retrieve record drawings and tap records, interpret information and relay buried water line location information to field crews via phone or two way radio. Make appointments for field crews to assist fire suppression companies with fire flow tests. Maintain database of hydrants needing repairs and record repairs made. Answer phone calls from customers, contractors, consultants, and other utilities providing general water service information and location of water system infrastructure in the street. Perform miscellaneous office duties such as filing, data entry, typing correspondence to customers, etc. Create spreadsheets for water main cleaning and lining project using field information with addresses and whether stop boxes are operable within project areas. Convey information to customers about City ordinances related to water service.
The current vacancy is with the Public Works Water Department ** (East Yard) which is located at 935 - 5th Avenue SE, Minneapolis.
Office and Storeroom/Warehouse Facility. Storeroom/Warehouse Facility work includes the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; ability to stand, stoop, bend, reach, twist or crouch to obtain and/or store equipment, items, supplies, etc.; ability to lift, push, pull, carry heavy items; ability to sit for extended periods of time at a computer and/or computer workstation.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
One year of experience performing related duties.
An equivalent combination of education and experience closely related to the duties of the position MAY be considered.
