This is a Mentorship position, designed to serve both an immediate objective of providing engineering support personnel, and a long term (5 year) strategic objective of internally developing exceptional systems engineering talent. Assignments will include specific engineering tasks selected for educational challenge and growth, as well as general support tasks necessary to assist the Systems Engineering staff. The ideal candidate is an engineering student with strong potential to develop into an outstanding engineer, as evidenced by 'success indicators' such as:
Advanced Academic record, with emphasis in Applied Mathematics, Physics and Engineering Design principles.
Evidence of a natural aptitude in Engineering, with emphasis on both the practical and theoretical aspects of the engineering profession.
Demonstrated leadership and personal motivation.
Evidence of high potential for exceptional achievement.
Team Player mentality and evidence of good interpersonal skills.
Enrolled in a Bachelor-level Engineering Degree program, with at least the freshman year completed.
Some relevant experience that indicates a propensity to excel is required.
Prior experiences that demonstrate leadership, initiative, accomplishment or teamwork is recommended.
Must maintain an acceptable GPA of 3.2 or higher.
Familiarity with MS Windows-based PCs and standard Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Power-Point, etc).
Knowledge, appropriate to the current academic level, of engineering principles and problem solving techniques.
Ability to work with people in a collaborative environment and earn the respect of peers.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Effective listening skills.
Applicants need to be self-motivated, conscientious and willing to learn.
Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a government security clearance.
