Lead – Senior Reactor Engineer within Hope Creek Reactor Engineering. The Reactor Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reactor core is operated in accordance with station procedures and Technical Specifications. Assignments include, but are not limited to, the planning, review, and execution of reactivity maneuvers such as core flow changes, control rod adjustments and exchanges, reactor startups and shutdowns; estimated criticality predictions; performing surveillances such as control rod scram timing, APRM/LPRM calibrations, reactivity anomaly, and shutdown margin; short-term core management; control rod and nuclear instrumentation lifetime management including planning and coordinating replacement of same; heat balance analysis; analysis and planning of fuel movements including new fuel receipt, reactor refueling, dry cask storage coordination; spent fuel rack management; operating the core monitoring system; operating the TIP system; and, managing fuel reliability with various site constituents. Additional assignments may also include custodial responsibility for special nuclear materials; performing/leading apparent or root cause evaluations and self assessments; participating in benchmarking activities; managing station procedures within the nuclear fuel/reactor engineering functional area; and, performing as the Core Thermal Hydraulic Engineer on the Emergency Response Team. Successful candidate placement within the Engineering Growth Series will be determined based on extent of relevant experience and qualifications. The successful candidate would be eligible for a monthly Qualified Nuclear Engineer (QNE) bonus, once the QNE qualification is attained. The Lead – Sr. Engineer for Hope Creek Reactor Engineering must have knowledge and/or experience in one or more of the following areas:
Required: BS Nuclear Engineering or similar Engineering discipline. 4 plus years of nuclear power experience. Title and grade for the position is dependent upon the number of years of experience in this specific area.
Desired: Advanced technical degree or related coursework; Reactor Engineering Experience/qualification; 50.59 qualification.
