This position is primarily responsible for the installation, maintenance, operation and accuracy of natural gas measurement control and regulation equipment to ensure the safe and reliable operation of city gate stations, large commercial and industrial gas M&R stations, and gas transmission M&R stations.

· Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy’s values, mission, and strategic business objectives.
· Under the general guidance of area supervision, the technician will build, maintain, test, inspect, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and operate gas transmission measurement and regulation equipment including mechanical, pneumatic and electrical control systems in a manner to be in compliance with applicable laws, codes and NWE safety standards.
· The technician’s primary responsibility is to ensure the safe and reliable operation of city gate stations and transmission measurement and regulation facilities in NorthWestern Energy’s gas transmission system.
· Travel to all areas of the gas system can be expected.
· Job time is spent in an office (20%) and field (80%) environment with exposure to all field hazards and weather extremes. Protective clothing and equipment required. Must lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
· Nature of the job requires the ability to respond to call outs; therefore, the employee is required to live within 30 minutes of Butte.
· Successful applicant will be expected to perform all of the above in accordance with all OSHA, DOT, and Northwestern Energy safety rules, policies and procedures.
Must be able to demonstrate a good safety record
· Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills
· Minimum of five years of gas measurement and control experience in the natural gas industry required
· Working knowledge of complex technical systems including pneumatic and electric controls, gas meters of all types, pressure regulators, relief valves, RTUs, pressure & temperature transmitters
· Proficient computer skills with various types of applications and software
· Must display the ability to think logically, understand and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.
· The position also requires a demonstrated ability to understand and follow precise directions, to communicate effectively, and to perform technical assignments under immediate and general supervision
· The technician must demonstrate the self-motivation required to work alone, as well as take direction and work well with others.
· Must possess a valid Montana Driver's License.
· Successful applicant is required under DOT rules to drug testing and obtaining and maintaining Operator Qualification certification.
