Position Summary:
This is an off campus federal work study position located at the City of Rio Rancho Public Works Department Utilities Administration Division. A work study award is required for this position. SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision, performs a wide range of tasks and activities for the Environmental Programs Office. Analyzes data and prepares reports. Assists staff with department projects, outreach activities and events. If desired, the assistant may be provided opportunities to tour the water and waste-water treatment plants, assist with inspections related to back-flow prevention and fats, oil and grease prevention. Other opportunities shall include community education for students and adults about water conservation, water quality and waste-water quality. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE: -Enters rebate information into the rebate database, including preparing reports to summarize rebate recipients and the amount of rebates. -Enters water conservation audit requests and water usage into audit spreadsheet. Sends data to auditor and prepares written water conservation reports to be sent to water customers. -Prepares and distributes calendars, fliers, and posters, as directed by staff. -Assists in organizing and evaluating special events, programs, classes and activities. -Answers questions and provides information along with referrals to members, the public and outside agencies. -Helps to coordinate volunteer activities. -Assists staff with other regular duties as needed. -Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED -Working toward college degree preferably in Water Resources Planning, Public Administration or Education. -Experienced in MS Word, Access and Excel. -Ability to utilize a database system. -Ability to read paper documents; stoop, bend, kneel and lift/carry objects that exist in a typical office environment. -Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures. -Skill in the use of operating office and computer equipment. Position is at Rio Rancho City Hall: 3200 Civic Center Circle NE Rio Rancho, NM 87144.
