Our client has reviewed their current database, installation, architecture and infrastructure, and has established plans to build a highly reliable scalable infrastructure, with a focus on MySQL, to support the changing customer demand, increase IT efficiencies and reduce management overhead of the database environment.
The MySQL DBA is expected to assist with the implementation or the re-architecture of the database environment, ensuring that the development/test databases are separated from the production and ACF environment. This future environment will provide a scalable, extensible architecture, and highly available production database environment, one which accommodates growth and high demand. On the MySQL database side, it is expected to support over 150 databases.

Qualifications/Skills/ Experience:
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience (5+ years) in configuring, administering, and maintaining MySQL database environments. The DBA candidate must have administration experience and skills on MySQL/Oracle/MSSQL database running on Windows/Unix; and have extensive and demonstrated experience on relational databases administration running on Unix/Linux/Windows environments.
The requirements for this new environment will include (but not limited to):
1. Review/Document Implementation Plan

a. Review and assess the current documentation and environment

b. To separate the production from non-production databases.

c. Document upgrade, migration and patch management strategies and priorities.

d. Identify and document best practice for the current environment, for backup and recovery; high availability (HA); disaster recovery (DR); account management.
2. Development/Test/ Staging Environment

a. Establish and document standards and conventions

b. Implement the new planned redundant, scalable environment.

c. Implement and test backup/recovery strategy

d. Support Certification and Accreditation (C&A) and adhering to the software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology.

e. Identify and document best practice for the current environment, for backup and recovery; high availability (HA); disaster recovery (DR); account management.
3. Production Environment

a. Work with application team on establishing/migration/testing databases to the new environment

b. Implement production deployment

c. Implement additional monitoring procedures

d. Implement additional backup procedures

e. Implement/test in ACF Failover test

f. Documentation and knowledge sharing.
4. Deliverables

a. Design/Architecture design/Implementation document

b. Backup/Recovery Plan and scripts

c. Upgrade/Migration/Patching Plan document

d. Health and Performance Monitoring Plan and procedure

e. Disaster Recovery (DR) and high availability (HA) plan
Minimum of 5+ years experience as a Certified MySQL Database Administrator with 5+ years experience in HA/DR (High Availability/Disaster Recovery)

Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology
