Under limited supervision, provides support to the development and implementation of the electronic statewide Individualized Education Program (IEP). Duties include, but are not limited to, working collaboratively with other divisions in the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) on the data requirements and IDEA compliance requirements for the statewide IEP; identifying staff development training needs that relate to the electronic IEP and designing, developing, conducting, and evaluating staff development during implementation; actively communicating with user districts face to face and online; coordinating external communications efforts (such as publications, articles, brochures, manuals, and meetings) to convey a positive identity for the IEP application; overseeing internal communications relative to the IEP application to build employee awareness and support of activities related to the electronic IEP; providing ongoing technical assistance to local school districts on the planning and usage of the IEP application to improve performance of students with disabilities; serving as district liaison; and developing, implementing, and evaluating special projects.
Master’s degree in a special education field or educational leadership and three years’ experience in a professional education capacity in special education. Must hold Georgia Professional Standards Commission certification. Note: Must submit documentation (e.g. copy of certificate) of the required certification with resume and cover letter or with application.
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• Experience in a leadership or administrative role in special education at the state or local school level
• A strong familiarity with special education policies at the state and federal level
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Experience in an electronic IEP project in a local school district
• Experience in planning, designing, and/or implementing training
• Experience in educational program planning, implementation, and evaluation
Pay grade 18 – Annual salary range $47,280.21 (minimum) to $82,962.30 (maximum). Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment and relevant education/training and work experience.
