The Development Manager is responsible for creating franchises and regional development strategy, restaurant design, development and construction/remodel functions. Additionally, they will be accountable for lease renewals, budget, resource planning and results.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provides direct guidance to the team members, franchisees and outside vendor partners for continual evolution of restaurant design and construction. Involved in SSDA/MSDA negotiations.

Follows company policies, upholds professional standards, and performs all work in a manner respectful of others.

Oversees the creation and maintenance of design and construction standards for all aspects of new and remodeled restaurants including furniture, fixtures, equipment, finishes and construction details.

Directs new construction and remodel activities; oversees communication/direction to franchisees, contractors, design group and vendors; manages construction and remodel budgets.

Manage due diligence processes on all new restaurant sites including review of geo-technical reports, civil engineer’s site work, construction documents, ALTA surveys, and Phase I environmental assessments.

Oversees facility management of the company restaurants and support center operations.

Oversees and conducts site evaluations and end of lease inspections.

Participates in the franchise recruitment process, interviewing and developing recommendations for new franchisees.

Performs other responsibilities as needed.

Achieves competence in and meets the performance standards of the Key Responsibilities.

Effectively manage and lead partners and individuals at varying levels of business skills.

Manages outside vendor partners, general contractors and design consultants; provides necessary drawings, designs and guidance/oversight to ensure consistency with the prototype design and the brand promise.

Conducts on site consulting & review of newly constructed or remodeled company and franchised restaurants.

Supervises closure and de-imaging of restaurants.

Qualifications (Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required)

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience

Minimum 8-10 years restaurant construction, planning, design, development and site evaluation/selection experience

Architectural license, PE or AIA certification preferred

Demonstrated ability to effectively manage architects, general contractors, and vendors

Excellent project management skills; ability to manage multiple projects of complex scope

Excellent communication skills; demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, persuade and collaborate with business leaders franchise owners and government representatives

Comprehensive knowledge of building codes and regulations

Thorough understanding of P&L management and budget management

Demonstrated leadership skills; ability to achieve results through others

MBA or Master’s degree preferred
