The project engineer will be responsible for the design and implementation of custom detention security systems. The right candidate will perform all of the duties listed below within the allotted schedule and budget while in training for a lead project engineer position or assistant project manager position. They shall occasionally visit project sites to assist with troubleshooting and testing and commissioning. The project engineer will be asked to provide technical information and expertise to project management in order to support customer requests or questions. Limited interaction with customers and end users with the oversight of a project manager or assistant project manager will be required. The engineer could be required to travel up to 10% of the time.


  • BS in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience with AutoCAD (AutoCAD Electrical preferred)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft products
  • Ability to read plans, schematics, specifications, wiring diagrams, and functional block diagrams
  • Organized and able to multi-task with limited direction (proactive)
  • Strong organizational and logic skills
  • Previous experience working with electrical or electronic components
  • Enthusiastic attitude with ability to handle multiple projects at once and meet deadlines with an excellent work ethic
  • Must be able to pass a background check


  • Constant and thorough communication with project management, programming, and fabrication
  • Perform all duties associated with designing and integrating every sub-system within the specified security systems

o Create and compile all required design documentation for submission to the project architect, consultant, and owner
o Oversee and complete detailed design drawings to effectively communicate the design to internal and external members of the project team
o Create and submit RFI’s (request for information) through project management to resolve inconsistencies in the contract documents or design intent
o Research and offer value engineering solutions to benefit the customer
o Design systems that are cost effective, efficient, and reliable for both the company and the customer

  • Support engineered designs through fabrication, factory testing, on-site installation, and commissioning
  • Schedule and conduct project reviews with project management, programming, and fabrication to ensure compliance with the design intent
  • Will gain knowledge of wiring practices/procedures/installation (including fiber optic)
  • Will gain enclosure and rack layout experience
  • Update and maintain existing engineering knowledge database
