Position Summary:
Under general supervision, provides tutoring and coaching assistance to CAMP participants. Assist in the development and delivery of tutoring services. Distributes educational and informational materials for the CAMP program. Identifies, recruits, and enrolls first year students in CAMP program. Provides peer tutoring support and assistance to CAMP participants. Coaches and prepares students for higher education learning opportunities. The position is on a semester basis and pays $10 per hour for 20 to 30 hours per week. Must be eligible for work-study. Please provide unofficial transcripts upon interview. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Provides tutoring activities for one-on-one and small group CAMP participants with college course work. 2.Develops positive mentoring relationships with CAMP participant. 3.Provides CAMP student-learning activities in the development of educational and career plans. 4.Participates in CAMP trainings, orientation, professional developments, events, meetings and program activities. 5.Coordinates learning on importance of higher education and provides informational support to Program students while serving as a positive role model. 6.Documents and completes CAMP student participation logs and contract forms. 7.Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: 1.UNM-Taos Student with a grade point average of 3.0 or better and must be eligible for financial aid. 2.Tutoring experience preferred but not required. 3.Must have taken and successfully completed tutoring subject area with a grade of B or better. 4.Must have flexibility to work around CAMP participant schedules. 5.Bilingual preferred. 6.Valid NM Drivers License KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Knowledge and understanding of the importance of higher education. Ability to develop, prepare, and implement tutoring/educational activities. Ability to effectively act as an advocate for students. Ability to travel for campus visits and other sites within region. Ability to facilitate learning activities. Ability to develop and present educational programs and/ or workshops.
