Plans, develops, presents and coordinate community health education programs and activities held in the communities served by Carilion Clinic. Provides Educational Programming to the student population and Radford University Community on Mental Health and Health issues. Nine month position that coincides with Student Academic Schedule. Hours are Monday - Friday with some evening and Saturday Hours in accordance with Radford University Student Counseling and Student Health Calendar.
Provides health education directly to the community at large, primarily through planned programs, fairs and screening events. Functions as a team member to advance Carilion’s Clinic’s goals through health education skills and by serving as a resource on community health education issues. Works with minimal direction and uses discretion when communicating screening results. Job often requires working outside Carilion Clinic facilities and travel to sites within the Clinic’s service area. This job requires moderate lifting (up to 50 lbs.) of audio-visual equipment, boxes of reports,etc.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
Education: Bachelors Degree in community health education, public health education, health and physical education, or nursing required; Masters Degree preferred.
Experience: Three years of professional experience required. Prefer demonstration of public health education background and skills.
registration: AHA BLS-HCP required.
eligible to sit for the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) exam within the first year of employment preferred.
Qualifications: Ability to educate clients of any age or SES level on community health education. Well-organized, proficient at multi-tasking and working with minimal direction. Must possess excellent organizational skills and proficiency in written and verbal communication. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Will be in charge of updating information on Radford website for Student Heath Services.
