Freescale's Radio Frequency (RF) Group is the number one supplier of RF power transistors for cellular infrastructure, supporting all major bands and transmission standards. Our RF power transistor technology is also used in products for the broadcast, avionics and ISM markets. Freescale also provides millimeter wave ICs (MM ICs) for cellular infrastructure applications. As a pioneer in RF technology, Freescale was the first to develop RF power transistors in LDMOS technology; the first to implement industry standards in air-cavity ceramic and over-molded plastic packing for RF power devices; and the first to deliver a 2 GHz discrete RF power transistor in over-molded plastic package capable of a 200 degree Celsius junction temperature. We are currently recruiting a Senior RF Design Engineer to join our Advanced Design Technology group. This group is responsible for pre-production research and development, working closely with the Device, Packaging and Systems Technology groups. Primary emphasis is on developing enabling technology for high-efficiency, broadband RF power semiconductor products for the cellular infrastructure market.
- BSEE (MSEE preferred) with a minimum of 10 years direct experience in RF power amplifier design.
- Knowledge of high efficiency architectures such as Doherty, EE&R, LINC, etc., as well as IC-related design experience.
- RF test and characterization using equipment such as vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and load-pull systems.
- Detailed experience in non-linear simulation, and CAD tools such as ADS, Momentum, HFSS, etc.
- Thorough understanding of modern communication signals, modulation formats and standards is also a plus, as is experience with digital pre-distortion systems and measurement.
We are looking for highly motivated designers with the ability to work on individual research projects, as well as in cross-functional teams that span from long term projects to projects directly leading to new product introduction. We expect our team members to be able to work within constraints of existing manufacturing platforms, as well as challenge contraints and develop new methodologies that enable higher performance, while balancing cost constraints.
