Primary focus is on the design, testing, and specification of primary, secondary and tertiary packaging. We are looking for experience working with folding cartons, bottles, closures, caps, tubes, inserts, blister pack, corrugated, shrink wrap and other packaging systems. Duties include: Participate in concept development meetings to determine package type, appearance and functional requirements, materials and other criteria based on input from Marketing, R&D, Creative Agencies, Suppliers and others. Manage the design and development process including prototyping, testing (including line qualification, storage, and distribution), evaluation, and approval. Develop package cost estimates and drive cost reduction and process improvement projects. Assist in selection and supervision of contract design, packaging component, and contact manufacturers including costing and justification. Stay abreast of innovative packaging technology and concepts to support the constant improvement of packaging systems for cost, quality, and function. Provide technical guidance and support to new product launch including the selection of equipment and tooling, vendor selection and supervision, and completion of all required documentation.
BS Packaging Engineering or equivalent 8 to 10 years of experience in Consumer Product, OTC Pharmaceutical, or Cosmetic industry packaging. Must be able to apply advanced methods and techniques to the design of new packaging materials and structures. Expertise in design, materials selection, testing and manufacture of primary, secondary and tertiary packaging. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and work with aggressive timelines. Excellent communication skills, leadership and teamwork skills. Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently.
