THE CENTECH GROUP, Inc. (CENTECH ® ) is seeking an Engineer IV to serve as a switch technician lead in support of a Base Telecommunications System (BTS) for Communications Squadrons (CS) located at Nellis and Creech Air Force Base (AFB), Nevada. As a Switch Technician, this person is responsible to monitor the switch and immediately begin corrective action as prescribed by Air Force Instructions (AFI) 33-111. As part of a team that provides services to ensure the availability of the BTS 24 hours per day, seven (7) days per week, there are on call requirements for active call outs after work hours to remotely diagnose and clear alarms. Where resolution via remote access is not possible, the Switch Technician is required to respond personally to the on-site location within prescribed response times.


Responsibilities include:
  • Monitor the switch using switch alarm call-out capabilities for trouble conditions classified as Emergency, Priority, and Routine as outlined in GFM requirements
  • Begin corrective action to clear alarm(s) as prescribed by AFI 33-111
  • Provide technical guidance to personnel to lead them through steps to clear alarm(s)
  • Provide after work hours remote diagnoses and clear alarm(s) support
  • Notify team and senior management of condition(s), update(s) of status, and corrective action(s)
  • Respond personally to on-site location of the alarm within the prescribed response time (usually 30 minutes) when remote access does not clear alarm(s)


Qualifications include:
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience as telecommunications switch technician
  • Knowledge of AFI 33-111 requirements
  • Experience in trouble assistance calls
  • Knowledge of voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) operations as part of the BTS
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards
  • Experience with Microstation J (V& Auto CAD, Visio, or Code Verification Certificate (CVC)), Microsoft Project, Word & Excel, Communications-Computer Systems Installation Record (CSIR)/CVC Database, EnhancEMS awareness, TMS
  • Must be resourceful and feel comfortable reaching out to other departments and management to complete assignments
  • Follow through on action items and keeping management and the team informed of progress
  • Must have National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI)
  • Have the following active certifications:
  • AVAYA Communication Manager for CM4 (Required)
  • AVAYA 8700 Series (Required)
  • AVAYA 8800 Series (Preferred)
  • AVAYA Communication Server 1000 (former Nortel) (Required)
  • AVAYA Basic Adds, Moves and Changes (Required)
  • AVAYA VoIP (Required)
  • Voice Messaging (Preferred)
