The Media Relations Manager supports the efforts to advance MillerCoors strategic story in influential news media outlets in a way that successfully communicates the company’s story and point of view. The position is responsible for raising MillerCoors profile by implementing an effective media relations program that provides communications direction and message delivery for the company on all corporate issues, including serving as primary corporate spokesperson. This position will support the management of all corporate news media relations for the company and create the most advantageous perception of MillerCoors and its actions among key stakeholders, including news media itself, key industry trade publications, distributors, analysts, community/opinion leaders, and government and regulatory officials. Specifically, a focus of this job will be to support the Company’s CSR and Sustainability efforts through the development and implementation of an effective media relations outreach program.
Media communication strategy and message development:
*Develops and executes the news media strategy and tactics to activate the company's communications strategy.
*Act as principal contact with news media relating to developing the company's desired business story as well as company's positions on industry and corporate issues.
*Manage context in which company is evaluated by its key constituents via external media.
*Serves as the of company's primary spokesperson on public policy issues, responsible consumption programs, issues related to legislative or regulatory affairs and issues related to the company’s operations or human resource policies.
*Oversee media intelligence gathering and timely and prioritized dissemination of that intelligence to enable informed decision making by company leadership.
*Draft press materials used to deal effectively with the media, including corporate press releases, standby statements, Q&As, talking points, scripts, bios and fact sheets.
*Review and give input on draft press releases prepared by the businesses or by outside parties (e.g. advertising agencies, vendors, third-party organizations/partners, etc.), prior to issuance to ensure proper positioning of news, optimal timing and accuracy about MillerCoors.
Corporate Social Responsibility communications:
*Establish, lead and execute communications and media outreach surrounding CSR efforts, including providing strategic counsel and content development for all external awareness campaigns.
*Serve as primary spokesperson for CSR-related activities, handling all proactive and reactive news media relations in a manner consistent with the company’s overall communications strategy.
*Provide clear direction to agencies/consultants that provide PR/communications support for CSR initiative
Team leadership and development:
* Develop and maintain positive, constructive business building relationships with team members.

Counsel to senior leadership:
*Provides strategic counsel on media communication issues to senior management.
*Ensure personal credibility and impact through influencing others, leading people, and communicating clearly.
*Create and maintain relationships with other Communication functions through partnerships.
*Bachelor degree required.
*Graduate degree in communications preferred with at least 8-10 years experience in a related industry
*Thorough understanding of media relations, standard media practices, media relationship-building as well as crisis communications skills
*Prior work experience is preferred as a working reporter and/or experience in corporate, government or public relations agency media relations.
*Keen business sense and excellent interpersonal skills *Understanding of linkages of external communications to internal and system communications and other key stakeholder groups.
*Very strong writing skills.
*Ability to manage outside writers, agencies and related budgets
*Reporter/analyst mindset with activist/campaigner attitude and thirst for knowledge and information.
*Able to “connect the dots” quickly and effectively to drive external dialog.
*Ability to interact effectively and influentially with senior management especially when a strong point of view must be delivered
