The Department of Bioengineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking a full-time Research Assistant Professor. This position requires an individual with advanced knowledge in biomedical engineering and biophysics, and high level of expertise in all aspects of the design, development and analysis of research projects focused on the biomechanics and underlying mechanisms using tissue engineered constructs.

Duties:
Applicants are required to possess a PhD in biomedical sciences or a related field and have at least 3 years of postdoctoral experience. Strong background in biomaterials, biophysics, molecular and cellular biology, and expertise in atomic force microscopy, multiphoton microscopy and laser tweezers are particularly desired. Preference will be given to candidates who have extensive experience in biomaterial design, formulation and characterization, and familiarity with in vitro experiments with human cells, mammalian cell culture, molecular biology including genomic DNA targeting vectors, DNA and siRNA transfections, ELISA, RT-PCR, flow cytometry, western blot, immunostaining and functional cell-based assays.

Qualifications:
PhD in Bioengineering or related field and two years of experience.
