The position entails developing and executing a test engineering plan for a complex set of legacy and soon-to-be-developed engineering tools in the power and process simulation market. The applicant will serve as the focal point for testing excellence, identifying improvements in the current test process, developing a test plan, working with engineering management to foster a culture of product quality and to mentor the development team on test-driven design and advanced testing techniques. Heavy emphasis will be placed on the ability of a candidate to lead automated testing initiatives while an ability to program is not required (although it would viewed positively), the candidate must be able to clearly define test cases for the development team and work with them closely to ensure proper implementation. Familiarity with a variety of modern test tools and frameworks is a must.

  • BS or MS in Software Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5 10 years of software test experience with 5+ years in an Agile environment
  • Ability to work in a loosely structured, Agile environment
  • Willingness and ability to take the lead in identifying and implementing improvements to the teams current test process
  • Comfort in working in an environment with rapid requirements evolution
  • Interest in learning new tools in a highly technical engineering environment
  • Willingness to step outside of assigned role when beneficial to the project or team
  • Proven ability to develop test plans and organize testing activities
  • Experience with test driven design and requirements
  • Experience in the Scrum process and Agile estimation
  • Experience with acceptance testing, scenario testing, performance testing, etc.
  • Test metrics development collection
  • Ability to support customers in troubleshooting activities
  • Programming abilities (Java, C++, PHP, HTML)
  • Knowledge of web technologies
  • Relational database experience
