CBH has placed among the Top 25 in the program's large-sized employer category (250 employees or more) for each of the three years the program has existed. Selection is based on an assessment of the company's employee policies and procedures as well as results of an internal survey of randomly selected employees.
Responsible for improving the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation. Facilitates modifications to clinical documentation through interaction with physicians, nursing staff, other interdisciplinary team members, and medical records coding staff to ensure that the appropriate reimbursement is received for the level of service rendered to all patients with a DRG based payer. Ensures the accuracy and completeness of clinical information used for measuring and reporting physician and hospital outcomes. Educates all members of the patient care team on an ongoing basis. Collect and analyze data to provide reports and make recommendations. Participates in Performance Improvement activities and other activities as assigned.
Graduate from an AD or Diploma Nursing School or Certified Coding Specialist.
Minimum 3 years recent acute health care nursing or coding experience.
Knowledge of ICD-9-CM coding principles and procedures
Knowledge of CPT coding
Knowledge of DRG assignment
Knowledge of medical record organization
Knowledge of medical terminology
Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner despite fluctuations in workflow
Interpersonal communication skills in working with hospital and medical staff
