An enterprise architect (EA) takes a company's business strategy and defines an IT systems architecture to support that strategy; to do so, EAs must understand a company's business and be able to dive deeply into technology issues; the incumbent will play a major role in aligning UCSF’s business goals and the IT infrastructure that supports the business and helps achieve those goals; much of the work involves identifying and establishing foundational systems that will be used to leverage the information and knowledge locked in legacy systems; to do this, UCSF must adopt service-oriented architecture (SOA) approaches toward application development and systems implementation; will play a central role in making SOA a reality at UCSF; and perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Ability to design, implement, and deliver secure, scalable, highly-available, enterprise applications using an n-tiered application architecture in the realm(s) of Enterprise Administrative Applications; deep knowledge of data standards, business processes, and domain specific tools and applications in one or more UCSF business areas including Healthcare, Health-related Research, Graduate & Post-Graduate Education, and University Administration.
Solid knowledge of application/data security, auditing, and privacy requirements of Education, Research, Clinical, and/or Financial applications; process Modeling using DFD’s and UML process models. Object Oriented Analysis and Design using UML; familiarity with business intelligence, data warehousing, data marts, ETL, and OLAP tools; estimating projects and evaluating technologies, with the ability to weigh the pros/cons of technology based on strategic advantages, cost, and schedule; understanding of Technical Operations and Disaster Recovery; possess Leadership skills, including excellent communications skills - written, verbal, and presentations and having the ability to influence without authority; knowledge of multiple project methodologies, e.g. Iterative Waterfall, Agile, Scrum; practical knowledge of network and authentication infrastructure, such as, but not limited to, firewalls, load balancers, LDAP; Computer Science, Information Systems Bachelor’s Degree, or other university degree and relevant work experience; development experience using .Net, Java, HTML, JavaScript, SQL, XML; experience presenting technology concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences;12+ years applications development experience over a wide range of technologies; 5+ experience guiding technology direction for a medium to large IT organization; 8+ years Applications and Data Integration experience; 8+ development experience across all tiers: user interface, application logic, data access, and database; requires climbing stairs; pushing/pulling up to 31-60 pounds; reaching shoulder level and below; sitting, standing, walking; carrying/lifting 20 pounds; gripping/grasping; repetitive hand and arm movements of upper extremities.

Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems; 5+ years experience with Agile or Scrum Development Methodology; 5+ years enterprise-wide n-tier, desktop and web applications development and implementation; 5+ years experience implementing SOA using SOAP or REST (legacy application migration experience a plus); experience with legacy technology such as mainframes, two tiered client-server applications; experience with mobile applications development such as the iPhone, iPad, Android, and Windows mobile
Multiple OS experience: Windows, *nix, Mac OS;experience with data integration tools, integrating with RDBMS, Salesforce.com, and/or PeopleSoft.
