Project Summary: Pavement Rehab and Pavement Preservations.

Description of Duties: The Field Laboratory Technician shall be familiar with and must be able to apply the Department’s minimum testing guidelines. The technician shall have a working knowledge of Department test procedures including but not limited to soils and asphalt field laboratories. The technician shall run the required sieve analysis on all construction materials. The technician shall run proctors and R-Value Tests on all embankment material, shall run proctors for all base course and shall run extractors, fractured face, liquid limit, sand equivalence and Marshall Briquettes for PMBP. The technician shall run extractions for OGFC and shall ensure that all samples are submitted in a timely manner in order to conduct soundness and LA Wear Tests. The technician shall ensure that all samples are taken for the central lab acceptance tests and submitted in a timely manner as determined by the Project Manager; shall be responsible to the Project Manger within twenty-four (24) hours after the test is completed. These tests shall be performed the day the material is placed.

The Technician shall perform record tests as required by the District Laboratory.

The technician shall complete a Field Source Book showing quantities and all applicable information, shall be knowledgeable in the preparation of all forms related to these activities and shall be responsible for the accurate completion of these forms.

The technician shall be knowledgeable of and capable of performing all the associated AASHTO test procedures as modified by the Department.

The technician shall be Site Manager literate, be able to establish computerized project data files, item lists, refines project computer forms and programs.

The technician duties shall be inclusive of, but will not be limited to the above.

Job Requirements

Registrations/Certifications Required: TTCP Soils Certification; TTCP Aggregate Certification; TTCP Hot Mix Certification.

Education and Qualifications Required: (Include Years of Experience Req’d) High School Degree with a minimum 2 years Highway and Bridge Construction Experience.
