Your first assignment may be in Wyalusing, PA, Nebraska City, NE, Fresno, CA, Dayton, VA, Columbus, NE, or Butler, WI. Our plant facilities are where we process raw materials into our many different product offerings. Typically these facilities will have between 600 and 3,000 employees. The plant environment is very fast paced and challenging. While in training, you will learn the workflow processes associated with managing a department. This includes managing good manufacturing practices, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), food safety, quality, process control and regulatory compliance. As part of your training, you may be asked to work on a processing line in a supervisory capacity.
The primary focus of this position is to learn the basics of our business. However, the primary emphasis will be in the areas of Quality Assurance and Regulatory and Food Safety. As a Technical Services Associate, you will learn how to monitor the processing activities of the various departments within the plant facility. It is the responsibility of the technical services/quality assurance employees to ensure that the operations teams comply with proper food handling and product standards. You will be trained on how to implement and document quality, sanitation and food safety policies and programs. Additionally, you will also be trained on how to sample and test product for microbiological hazards.
A natural job progression for a high performer would be to progress into a supervisory role, or work in the plant’s laboratory. From these roles a candidate could advance to a HACCP coordinator, facility technical services manager, or entertain a career in operations.
