Full-time Olathe, KS (suburb of Kansas City)

Design, develop, and maintain various online initiatives, including community and activity-based websites, corporate websites and other online marketing materials for Garmin.com and its related websites.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Design and develop web pages and online marketing materials to create a rich, engaging, user-centered web experience

Work with Marketing Communications, IT, Marketing, and Engineering staff to plan, develop, to meet critical project deadlines and complete requested projects

Various responsibilities related to the support of large commercial websites

Work with internal associates to complete in-house projects

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES :
Remain current on new media and traditional design skills

Stay abreast of web design, web development and multimedia tools and techniques

Perform other job-related duties as assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Minimum of Associates Degree in Visual Communication/Advertising Design or related field and at least 1 - 3 years of Web Design experience

An online portfolio demonstrating a strong visual and conceptual design sense and a superior understanding of current coding practices, typography, color, and layout

Superior understanding of current coding practices, including CSS-based design and semantic XHTML.

Experience with web standards, usability, and accessibility principles

Experience with the Adobe suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and Flash

Expert computer skills (Mac and PC)

Good communication skills

Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others

Must be flexible and able to work accurately in a fast-paced environment

Ability to work independently with little supervision

Must have good organization skills and have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks

Experience using and developing Content Management Systems (CMS)

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with ActionScript, JavaScript, Java, AJAX, etc

Previous experience in Visual Communications, Graphic Design, Advertising, or Marketing

Previous experience with Expression Engine
