Technical and Paraprofessional
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under supervision of the Chief of Safety and Security and Director of Safety, assists the Marketing and Communications Office in the delivery of presentations on safety to include Emergency Evacuations, Bomb Threats, Active Shooter, protocols for handling campus emergencies and under the direction of the Safety Director coordinates emergency exercises with the authority having jurisdiction. Assists the Safety Department with fire and safety inspections. Responsible for collecting data. Demonstrate knowledge and/or ability to measure hazards such as noise or radiation and the knowledge to collect and handle samples of dust, gases, vapors, and other potential toxic materials to ensure personal safety and accurate test results. Ability to audit personal protective equipment such as masks, respirators, protective eyewear, or other PPE required in the workplace.
An Associate's Degree in Industrial Safety, Engineering, Fire, or related field of study and five years direct experience. OSHA certified, CPR Certified. Must have a valid New Mexico driver's license. A pre-employment criminal background check and drug/alcohol test will be conducted. Ability to relate to and interact with a non-traditional diverse employee and student population.
Preference is given to candidates with a recognized certification as a safety professional and having experience in coordinating emergency exercises with applicable agencies.
