Responsible for overall management of cleanliness, sanitation, orderliness, and general appearance of contract locations and performs related work as required.

This position requires the use of a personal vehicle for frequent travel within the DC Metropolitan area. Flexibility in work hours and the ability to work nights and/or weekends is essential to this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Oversees the work of multiple contract sites, with personnel engaged in maintaining a single or multiple site building complex.

Supervises managers and supervisors at various contract locations.

Assists Project Manager with hiring and other personnel related issues.

Trains new managers and retrains existing managers and supervisors as needed; attends training (such as AbilityOne) to stay abreast of contract compliance regulations.

Attends partnering meetings at contract sites with the Government, AbilityOne and GGW.

Provides inspection of work areas to ensure a well cleaned site.

Manages Payroll.

Travels to contracts sites frequently.

Monitors budget expenses for each contract site.

Assists Project Managers with budget requirements.

Other Duties and Responsibilities :
Plans and assigns work assignments.

Introduces new equipment and cleaning methods by demonstrating techniques and procedures.

Assesses inventories, computes consumption, estimates needs, and requisitions housekeeping supplies.

Responsible for maintaining records and making reports.

Oversight of custodial services with fiscal guidelines and plans for contingencies.

Assists in business development to include attending site visits and making recommendations on staffing and supplies.

Supervisory Responsibility :
This position has supervisory responsibility for the contract managers and supervisors at various contact sites.

Required Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited college/university. May substitute educational requirements with at least five years of experience in operations management.

Considerable knowledge of the principles of sanitation, methods and equipment used in cleaning and custodial/ janitorial.

Considerable knowledge of supplies and materials used in housekeeping.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Knowledge of principles of personnel management as applied to selection, placement and supervision of subordinate employees.

Working knowledge of AbilityOne/JWOD regulations or state set-asides.

Ability to interface with government customers.

Demonstrated ability to supervise a large unskilled, disabled, and/or disadvantaged workforce.

Knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions required in institutional cleaning work, including OSHA, MOSH.

Ability to speak, read and understand English.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with other departments.

Must be able to perform the duties of a project manager, supervisor, custodian, and quality control manager.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications :
Successful completion of the Building Service Manager Certification courses.
Experience in managing a custodial site greater than 1million SQFT contract site custodial operation.
