The Logitech Music Business Group has an immediate opening for a full-time Senior Mechanical Engineer . This individual will be responsible for the research and development of consumer audio products to include speakers, earphones and headsets. This position demands a professional with experience in a fast-paced, high technology environment with proven project development capabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • ME activities from Industrial Design (ID) to Mass Production (MP)
  • Schedule tasks & deliverables for projects in order to hit target dates
  • Confirm robustness of design using engineering analysis and validation tests
  • Provide functional prototypes for the project development team
  • Troubleshoot designs as issues arise
  • Conference calls and travel to China and Taiwan as needed to collaborate with team members and oversee vendors
  • Documentation including items such as costing, structuring BOM, 2D dwgs, general product specification(GPS) and issue tracking
  • Mentor other ME’s in your areas of expertise
  • Brainstorm and internally sell concept ideas thru sketches, presentations, renderings and prototypes
  • Work on goals to enhance the ME department
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • BSME, or equivalent with a minimum 5 years product design experience in consumer electronics
  • Min. of 5+ years Pro/E Wildfire Experience (currently using 5.0 or later)
  • Experience in Pro/e with top down design methodologies using skeletons &pub/copy geoms
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering plastics (including, but not limited to PC, PC/ABS, ABS, HIPS, PP, and TPU), and metals (including, but not limited to AL extrusions, AL & Zinc Die casting, Investment casting, etc.)
  • Tooling and/or injection molding experience with an emphasis in determining gate location, molding parameters, and slide requirements for cosmetic, strength, and manufacturability
  • Experience with finishing processes such as IMD, hot stamping, painting, and electroplating
  • Be able to work onsite and perform duties in a cross functional team atmosphere which include industrial design, marketing, quality, engineering and manufacturing
  • Ability to lead a project (and possibly a small team) while providing status reports to management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks & projects simultaneously
  • Experience using FMEA and DFM during product development
  • Solid ability in performing tolerance stack up analysis
  • Ability to perform “hands-on” product testing and failure analysis
  • Ability to design small mechanisms such as detents, sliding, telescoping, folding, rotating, and latching mechanisms
  • Experience in designing user interfaces such as buttons and rotary dials
  • Operates well both within team and independent environments
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS / SKILLS:
  • Interest in acoustic design
  • FEA experience (Mechanica and/or Ansys experience preferred)
  • Thermal analysis
  • Vibration analysis
  • Wireless product design experience (Bluetooth, WiFi, etc.)
  • EE knowledge
  • Ergonomics
