The Electrical Engineering Technician performs conventional and moderately-complex engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses within a discipline.
The Engineer Technician is proficient in the utilization of standard engineering theories and practices, and works in the Maintenance Engineering section providing technical expertise to shops and other units for the maintenance of electrical systems.
The ideal candidate will conduct engineering assessments and reports that meet or exceed customer’s requirements.
This includes defining the problem, establishing the work scope, approximating costs, planning the work, providing technical direction, and reporting the work status.
The electrical engineering technician conducts facility inspections to evaluate electrical systems;
works with Reliability Centered Maintenance technicians to identify electrical problems through the use of thermal imaging;
develops and supports shop personnel to implement the recurring maintenance program on electrical systems; develops 5-year plans for electrical systems, including but not limited to emergency generators, cathodic protection, airfield lighting and aircraft arrestors;
recommends replacement of deteriorating electrical systems, that have exceeded its life cycle or failed to support the mission of the facility, based on industrial standards and common electrical practices; and p
erforms other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate or as designated by the supervisor.
Basic knowledge of CAE (computer aided engineering)/CAD (computer aided design) and MS Office applications is necessary.
Basic knowledge is required in these areas or some onsite training will be provided.
Must be able to successfully pass a government background check.
Licensed Electrician with broad experience with low to high voltage systems, transformers, power distribution systems, lighting, grounding, AC and DC motors and drives, motor control centers, relays, pumps, motors, chillers, HVAC equipment and 5-8 years of related work experience in industrial settings.
Familiarity with Reliability Centered Maintenance practices and thermal imaging applications is preferred.
Thorough knowledge of relevant codes specifically NEC, other NFPA and IEEE standards.
Proficiency in utilizing CAD and other PC software packages such as MS Office.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Must be a licensed electrician.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
